1) What is the definition of Analog and Digital sound?:
We will not go into the technical definitions of Analog sound or Digital sound, a simple definition of Analog sound is what you hear in Gramophone records and Audio Cassettes, Digital sound is what you hear on Compact Discs, Mini Disc or DVD’s. Basically the sound that is heard on a computer is digital and the sound that is heard in an audio cassette player is Analog.
2) How do I send audio files on the internet for conversion of speech-into-text?
Depending on the audio file format the recording is in, if you wish to send a recording of an audio cassette, you will first need to digitize it meaning convert that into a .wav file or .mp3 format. There are agencies that convert audio cassettes into .wav or .mp3. And if the audio is recorded on a mini disc or a compact disc, you need to copy it on the hard disk and then convert it into .mp3 or .wav format. And to convert mini disks or compact discs into .wav or mp3 formats, a new version of Windows Media Player 10 will have to be installed.
3) How do I record telephone interviews or conferences for transcriptions?
For recording Telephone Interviews or Conferences, you will require a telephone with a handset and a recording adapter. This specially built adapter is attached to the hand-set of the telephone with wires; the two-way conversation can then be recorded on to a portable recorder, or to the sound card of a computer.
In a same manner, cell phones can also be used for interviews, but a different adapter is available for a wireless phone, this also is attached between the ear piece jack of the cell phone and the head set/ear piece that comes with a cell phone. These adapters can be bought at
